Sandra has always loved being in shape! Fitness has been a mentor and safe haven. “Fitness adopted me,” she exclaims. Sandra was born and raised in Chicago, IL, where she grew up playing sports. However, she didn’t really begin to adopt a healthier, more athletic lifestyle until college. Although Sandra was always overweight, she was naturally athletic and played softball for a women’s major league team. During this time, she was invited to get involved in power lifting. After winning the USA power lifting championship for the heavy weight division in Las Vegas, she decided that it was time to take her body to the next level.
Over the past two years, Sandra has lost over 100lbs!

“I’ve got to have it all,” says Sandra. “Strength, power, and flexibility. I’m tenacious in cardio and strength training, always giving 110%.” With that type of attitude, it’s no surprise that she was able to transform her body! Sandra’s primary fitness achievement is learning how not to sabotage her own success. She believes in building on your victories. “Whatever you do, be consistent. It doesn’t matter what level, if you stay consistent then you will have success.”
Sandra trains 5 to 6 times a week. She is constantly setting new fitness goals for herself. She likes to use her enthusiasm to motivate and coach others, especially the youth. For Sandra, fitness is a lifestyle, a lifelong commitment; it’s a marriage that she won’t ever divorce. “You put your body through the rigors of getting in shape and it’s a feeling that you don’t want to let go. I’m addicted to that feeling; I can’t imagine not being in shape.”
